Guess The Moth

It has been raining all day so I have been drawing moths. Here is the one of the Garden Tiger Moth.

And here is the next one that I have drawn, but can you guess what it is? I hope you have a go.

A Day at Llyn Brenig

Last week we had a trip to Llyn Brenig moors in North Wales and we were of course hoping to see a Hen Harrier, but there were lots of other great things to see as well.

Here are some of my pictures from the day.

The Eclipse

On Friday we were all allowed outside at school to watch the solar eclipse.  I wanted to see it from the start, so I got to school early and set my camera up ready.

I had a special filter on my lens and I managed to get a few different shots. It was amazing to watch. I felt it go colder as the moon blocked out nearly all the sun.

Here are a few of the pictures I took.

A Lapland Bunting

On Sunday I went to Cemlyn Bay on Anglesey and saw this lovely Lapland Bunting. It's the first time I have ever seen one. They are usually found more on the east coast so it was really nice surprise to see one over in Anglesey.

I also took this bit of video of it.

The Big Jump at Ramp1

I got a new scooter for Christmas, it's a really good one called a Sacrifice. At the weekends Dad has been taking me to Ramp1 in Warrington which is an amazing indoor skatepark with massive jumps and lots of different areas.

This is the Pro-Rhythm section:

They also have this massive ramp that you go down and then take off over another ramp to practice tricks and land in a big air bag. This is my first try today, and you can hear that it was a bit scary:

The video doesn't really show how steep it is, but when you are at the top looking down, your heart really starts thumping a lot. I tried to do tail whip in the air on this next one:

It really is good fun.

Tree Sparrows and more at Sandbach Flash

In the morning I was wondering were I could go to take some photos and somewhere I haven't been to that often, I thought Sandbach Flash. When we arrived this beautiful Tree Sparrow caught the edge of my eye and I was like WOW because I'd never seen one be for. I got some great photos but this one has got to be the best. I got about 5 metres away which was really was surprising.

In this shot I thought that this is something my family could do. All the seed has been spread out and stuck on the fence with fats so all the birds can peck at it and have a tasty snack. On all of the posts where they meet up there it was, all the seed.

With this photo I was looking around thinking I was going to see nothing but I actually saw a beautiful Robin perched on a tree branch and said ''I'm going to get a photo''and guess what, I did. I took the photo and thought it was rubbish because I tripped on a piece of wood and hurt my foot, but it turned out to be amazing, even if I say so myself.

This next bird called the coot is common and a bit dull, but is still nice to get a picture. What I think makes this picture good is the bird it self and of course the wonderful field the coots are standing on. Normally I just see them in the water.

Once we'd looked at the main pool we went over to a flooded field right behind it. My dad spotted a really nice bird, the Redshank. I really think this picture is good because 1. the colours and 2. the bird. The colours green, brown and blue make this bird really nicely hidden on the grass, apart from those shiny red legs.A big thanks to dad for spotting the bird so I can put it on my blog.

Over on to the last part of the flash we have some Mallards, Teal, Wigeon and some others. People might not find Mallards interesting but every bird has their special part and that's why I put them on my blog.

I hope you enjoyed my very detailed blog.

A Redwing

I was taking pictures of Goldfinches when suddenly this lovely Redwing came swooping down for a bath and scared the other birds away.  I was really please with this picture. It was taken at Marton Mere.
